Most volunteers and families only interact with their Case Manager or other program staff. But behind the scenes, we have staff working for our families that never get the facetime or the recognition they deserve. This month, we’d like to highlight Lisa Anderson. Although she holds the title of Office Manager/Bookkeeper, she’s much, much more! Lisa has a wealth of experience in accounting and she makes sure we run smoothly. And she braves the audits and auditors so that we don’t have to! She has a dry wit and sneaks in jokes when we least expect it, often causing staff to burst into laughter.
When people talk about accountants, “creative” usually isn’t one of the descriptive words people use, but Lisa a talented and creative crafter. Each staff member has, at some time or other, received one of her unique and beautiful cards for a special occasion.
While Lisa doesn’t have direct contact with our Little’s, she does find ways to support our families. She recently heard about an activity at Audubon State Park in Henderson and made sure that our Bigs knew about it through our Facebook Bigs ONLY page. Because of Lisa, one young man was able to participate in an exciting survivalist class where he learned how to build a shelter and make fire in an emergency situation. What’s more, that activity sparked something in this Little and he’s excited to continue learning all he can!
Please join us in recognizing and thanking Lisa for her hard work and for making a difference in the lives of area youth!
