As our Executive Director, Dana Wilson helps to keep our heads on straight at Big Brothers Big Sisters! She moved to Evansville after growing up in Southwest Louisiana, and went to college at McNeese State University in Lake Charles. Dana loves working for Big Brothers Big Sisters because she loves witnessing the transformation in the lives of the children we serve. She knows that these kids are our future, and believes that they deserve to have as many positive opportunities in their lives to shape and mold who they will become as adults.
Dana readily admits to being bossy growing up, but uses this, along with her loyalty and positive attitude, to keep us organized and focused! When she’s not busy at our office, Dana loves being outdoors, doing everything from gardening to hiking and biking. It’s no surprise that the last thing that made her smile was the sunset along the Ohio river. Her favorite quote is “the world is changed by your example, not your opinion,” and she works to be this example every day at Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Dana loves getting to help pair our Littles with their found families, but she also loves spending time with her own family. One of her favorite traditions is spending time with them at Christmas, watching the Christmas Play and playing White Elephant. It’s also the perfect season for her favorite movie, It’s a Wonderful Life. She has two amazing granddaughters, but doesn’t get to spend nearly enough time with them! But they are the prefect reason to watch her favorite kid’s movie, The Goonies. When her family is not in town, Dana is kept company by her crazy cat Milo. We are so grateful to have her in our office!
