Ciara Terry is one of the newest members at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Indiana. She joins the team as a social work intern. Originally from the small rural town Chilicothe, Ohio, Terry currently resides in Evansville while pursuing a Bachelor's degree at the University of Southern Indiana. She is majoring in social work and minoring in psychology.
Terry is described as dedicated, compassionate, and resourceful and is a natural fit at Big Brothers Big Sisters. Ciara enjoys interning for Big Brothers Big Sisters where she can collaborate with professionals who foster important relationships between Bigs and Littles. “The appreciation of human relationships is evident at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Indiana between staff members, volunteers, matches, and interns. Being a part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters community not only aids in my professional development as a social worker, but my personal development as well,” says Terry of her new position. Terry’s mother always told her to dream big and while growing up, she dreamed of ambitiously taking on a variety of careers including teaching, writing novels, becoming a veterinarian and an international pop star. This lesson continued to stick with her and she has a firm belief that children have the endless potential to achieve all things. Away from the office, Ciara enjoys spending time with her nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also enjoys watching her three cats, Keanu, Ajax, and Bellatrix. Her favorite movie is Forrest Gump and children’s movie is Pocahontas.
Her favorite quote is by Dr. Seuss, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.”
