A Frightening Scare: Terror on the Trails

Fall presents so many wonderful opportunities for matches to connect through pumpkin carving, trick or treating, drinking apple cider or visiting a farm to pick out a pumpkin. But those activities are often geared towards younger youth, and older youth want something a bit different. Big Brothers Big Sisters staff are committed to providing activities that appeal to a wide range of ages and backgrounds.

So, this year, in the spirt of Halloween bonding, Big Brothers Big Sisters staff (and their families) and matches had the opportunity to volunteer with Terror on the Trails, a Henderson nonprofit that provides much needed funds to families caring for a significantly ill child. Everyone had to attend Scare Camp the week before to prepare and learn the dos and don’ts of scaring. The night of the event, everyone arrived for makeup, costumes and a dinner hamburgers and drinks around the campfire. Everyone needs to fuel up for a night full of thrills and chills!

Little Sadee and Big Sister Savannah volunteered to help with The Asylum, the final stop on the trail.  They had such a good time scaring that they volunteered another night! BBBS Executive Director Ryan and his daughter volunteered to be witches and rocked their looks. Heather and her daughter chose to be “Creepers”, the actors that blend into their surroundings and then jump out to scare the daylights out of patrons. Everyone said they’d DEFINITELY do this again! Not only did we have a great time, we helped raise needed funds to support local youth and families!
